Hallmark Society Meetings
Quarterly Meetings include current activities and projects, reports, and members’ concerns. Heritage Updates feature threatened properties, those where action has been taken successfully, and issues to watch. Meetings conclude with a guest speaker. Ideas for featured guests are always welcome. Contact Hallmark Society with your ideas. The Board of Directors meets monthly to deal with advocacy issues and heritage concerns. If you have a matter which you think should be discussed, please let us know.
2012 Heritage Week General Meeting
The Heritage Week General Meeting will be held at thte Victoria City Hall Antechamber on Monday, February 20, 2012, starting at 7:30 pm.
Nick Russell and Russ Fuller will speak on "Bird's Eye View of Victoria and the Mystery of Annie Ross." Jointly sponsored by the Hallmark Heritage Society and the Victoria Historical Society.

2011 December General Meeting
The December General Meeting was held on December 5, 2011 at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street, 7:30 pm. Guest speaker was Robert Budd speaking on Living Memory: Imbert Orchard and the Recorded Voices of BC Pioneers. We all have stories that are a part of BC's history. What a treat to hear the actual voices of pioneers - this makes history come alive.
2011 Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held on September 19, 2011, at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street, 7:30 pm. Guest speaker was Nancy Hughes who talked about her award-winning book, "Built by Luney Brothers."
2011 Heritage Week General Meeting
The Heritage Week General Meeting was held on February 21, 2011, at the Victoria City Hall council antechambe at 7:30 pm. Speakerwas Ken Johson who talked on Victoria's oldest park, Beacon Hill Park.
2010 December General Meeting
The December General Meeting was held on December 6, 2010, at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street, 7:30 pm. Guest speaker was Guy Besner who talked on Victoria's modernist structures.
2010 Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held on September 13, 2010, at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street, 7:30 pm. Guest speaker was outgoing president Nick Russell who talked on Glorious Victorians.
2009 December General Meeting
The December General Meeting was held on December 7, 2009 at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street beginning at 7:30 pm. Our guest speaker was Dr. Patrick Dunae who has been responsible for several historical websites. He discussed his current project - a virtual 1891 Victoria.
2009 Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street beginning at 7:30 pm. Our guest speaker was Jamie Webb, who discussed the Canadian Naval Centennial 1910-2010. Since 1984 Jamie has worked for the Navy in a variety of roles. He is currently the Senior Protocol Officer on the staff of the Commander, Maritime Forces Pacific.
2008 December General Meeting
The 2008 December meeting was held on December 8th at the James Bay New Horizons Centre. Our guest speaker was Dave Obee of the Times Colonist who talked about the history of the newspaper and its predecessors. He was able to connect the newspaper articles with the real life going on at the time. A copy of the book Making the News was raffled.
2008 Annual General Meeting
The 2008 Annual General Meeting was held at 7:30 pm on Monday, September 15, 2008 at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street. Constable Jonathan Sheldon from the Victoria Police Department and Gary Green, a retired member of the Force, discussed 150 years of policing in Victoria and showed a DVD made specifically for the anniversary.
Heritage Week 2008 General Meeting
The 2008 Heritage Week General Meeting was held February 21, 2008 at the Odd Fellows Hall, 1315 Douglas Street. Following a tour of the facility, we presented three local speakers form the Heritage Canada foundation conference in Edmonton last fall. Councillor Pamela Madoff - Heritage and Development; TLC Deputy Executive Director Ian Fawcett - Heritage and Citizens; Administrative Director Helen Edwards - Neighbourhoods under Threat.
2007 December General Meeting
The 2007 December meeting was held on December 10th at the James Bay New Horizons Centre. Guest speaker Ken Johnson presented a highly entertaining lecture on the problem with Rattenbury - the seamier side of the construction of the Parliament Buildings.

The 2007 Annual General Meeting was held at 7:30 pm on Monday, September 24, 2007 at the James Bay New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies Street. On the agenda were Election of Directors, Reports, and Heritage Updates Our guest speaker was John Veillette who educated us on the finer points of Art Deco in Victoria.
Heritage Week 2007 Tour
We toured Dodd House, 4139 Lambrick Way on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 2 - 4 pm to celebrate vernacular heritage during Heritage Week 2007.
2006 December General Meeting
The 2006 December meeting was held on December 10th at the James Bay New Horizons Centre. Guest speaker Simone Vogel-Horridge gave a most illuminating lecture on historic wallpaper in Victoria. Included were examples from a house now demolished. Simone showed us how viewing samples of wallpaper can help us trace the social history of occupants.

On the agenda were Election of Directors, Reports, and Heritage Updates Our guest speakers were Dr. John Lutz and Merna Forster of the University of Victoria speaking on the creation of Victoria’s Victoria and Great Unsolved Mysteries in Canadian History – two highly successful websites that bring history alive.
Heritage Week 2006 General Meeting
The Heritage Week meeting was held on Monday, February 20, 2005 at the James Bay United Church at 511 Michigan Street, beginning at 7:30 pm. Following a tour of the church with the minister, we reconvened in the church hall to hear from the authors of four recently-published heritage-related books.
