Although the fair is
intended as an educational experience and a mutual sharing of
information, there are several awards for which the students are
eligible. All participants receive certificates.
Note: One student cannot win more than one
major award in the same year and judges are not obligated to select
recipients for all awards.
Selection
to provincial fair
Four students per
year are chosen to participate in the provincial heritage
fair. In the case of a group project, only one student
can represent the group.
Canada's History Award
Sponsored by
Canada's History, this award is given to an
ourstanding project that best integrates the use of written research and visual materials as inseparable elements to successfully present their topic.idea of the "capital city"
and its connection with the rest of the province. Complete

The PCC Capital
Award
Sponsored by
the Provincial Capital Commission, this award is given to an
ourstanding project that demonstrates the idea of the "capital city"
and its connection with the rest of the province. Complete

BC Hydro Power Pioneers Award
This award is
given to an
ourstanding project that has a theme centered on a story involving BC
Hydro or its predecessors - the British Columbia Electric Company or
the British Columbia Power Commission. Complete

Historic Places Award
This award is
given to an
ourstanding project that has a theme centered on a historic place in
British Columbia. The student may show the connection between the
historic place and the community. Complete

Vancouver Branch United Empire Loyalists Award
This award is
given to an
ourstanding project that has a theme centered on the settlement and growth of Canada prior to Confederation (1867) in particular, the Loyalists or their descendants. Complete

Judges
Choice Award
Sponsored
by a local business, this award is given to an outstanding project in
which the judges were impressed with the amount of knowledge that the
student was able to relate during the interview.
Honourable
Mentions
These
awards are special certificates and are made to projects which are of
high quality, but have not won major awards. The number is at the
discretion of the judges.
The
judging panel
Volunteer
judges are selected from different aspects of the education, history
and heritage fields as well as members of the media. The decisions of
the judges are final.
