PCC Capital Award

The Province Capital Commission (PCC) is a provincial crown agency with a mandate "to connect and celebrate the Capital with every British Columbian". Through it its Outreach program the PCC supports educational initiatives that connect the Capital to people throughout the province.


The Capital Award and certificate will be presented to the project at each Regional Fair throughout British Columbia that best meets the award criteria. The organizing committees at each Fair will coordinate the selection of the recipient at their Fairs.

Project may be presented in English, French, or an Aboriginal language, at any grade level from 4 to 10. Project must have a theme on British Columbia's Provincial Capital City or Capital Region. Project must highlight an aspect of history or heritage related to the BC Capital.

Project may illustrate the student(s) connection between their community and BC's Provincial Capital Students must demonstrate enthusiasm for learning about the history, heritage and culture of the Provincial Capital.

The award will be given to a project. Where the winning project is presented by more than one student, each student will receive a PCC pin, certificate and a book will be awarded to the students school library.

A student may only receive the PCC Capital Award once during his/her participation in the Fairs Program.

In the same year, a student may not be selected as the PCC Capital Award recipient and the recipient of any other major award.
